How to port a business phone number without dropping a call

Most port failures happen two weeks before port day, on paperwork. The record to pull first, eight steps, and the cleanup after the switch.
Porting a number is mostly an exercise in matching records. If the account name, service address, or PIN on your request doesn’t match what the losing carrier has on file, the port is rejected — and the clock restarts.
Pull the customer service record first
Ask your current carrier for the CSR before you submit anything. It is the source of truth the port will be checked against.
Keep working while it moves
Porting is free on every DialPress plan and usually takes 5–14 business days. You get a temporary number on day one, so the AI agent can start answering before the port completes.

Build an AI voice bot like an Express app
The dialpress Node SDK turns SIP into routes and handlers. Here is a PBX and an AI voice bot that share one gateway — and pass calls between them.

SIP vs WebRTC for AI voice agents
SIP reaches every phone number on earth; WebRTC reaches every browser. A production voice agent needs both — here is how they fit together.

Giving voice agents tools with MCP
Your booking system, your CRM, your order lookup — any API can become a voice agent’s tool without writing a line of agent code.
